Universe

I wanted to create my version of what a part of the universe would look like. I have been studying planets, stars, and clouds in outer space. I am fasinated by the subtle movement of the plantes and the changes that happen over time. The universe is one big abstract painting. :)

Charcoal Study

This was a charcoal study of items around my house. The back ground is the blinds in the room.

Oriental Brush Painting- Butterflies in Nature

This was made in a class study of butterflies. In this piece I was trying to capture the delicateness and movement of the butterflies. I learned from a Chinese teacher techniques and styles of water color painting past down through generations. I loved this class so much. We did light yoga before each class and hand exercises. We also had to sit up straight and have the paint brush with a pointed tip.  The teacher was very serious about the class knowing Chinese History.

Light Versus Dark

MEDIUM: Oil painted over acrylic on canvas board
COLORS: reds, blues, yellows, white, black, purple, greens
DIMENSIONS: 17 7/8 x 13 7/8
SIGNATURE: All items have a Signature on front and back. The date is on back of the piece also.

I was thinking about movement and motion. This painting signifys the light and dark sides of our personalities. Sometimes these sides are battling for control over each other. People can repress the darkness within. Therefore, these feelings can pop out and manifest in unusal ways.

Metal Canvas

I studied sculpture for two years. I was greatly inspired by my teacher who graduated from Harvard.  He knew how to bring out the best in people and gave good direction.  Half of the shop was an assembly area. The other side was welding. I was scared to try it but I forced myself not to give up. I learned the most basic welding techniques and went from there. I am not certified or anything. For this piece I tried something different. I took a sheet of metal and tried to think of it like a canvas. I used my paint brush (welding instrument/gun) and thought of the holes and streaks as brush strokes.

New begining

This was my final project from a photoshop class. We were supposed to make something that was about our personalities or changes in life.  I decided to go with a fetus in a protective bubble to show that as a symbol of my rebirth.  I had just started college again and quit my job as a manager. I had made some drastic changes. I was returning to my roots and expanding my artistic qualities.

Bat Wing

This lithograph was done shortly after the "Roots" piece. My inspiration for this was based off of a close friend's tattoo. I took a section out of the tattoo and blew it up bigger. I exaggerated some aspects of it. I discovered that if you turn this piece side ways you can see something that looks similar to a bat. That is how I got the name. This piece was in an art show at  the College of Du Page.
